Tuxedo Park is located in northern Calgary, placing it close to all core amenities. A popular spot for students and young professionals, this rectangular-shaped community extends from 16 Avenue NW to 32 Avenue NE and along Edmonton Trail NE to 2 Street NW, with Centre Street as a bisecting line. Tuxedo Park maintains a historic charm as one of the city’s oldest neighbourhoods.

The Good, the Bad & the Rest
As one of Calgary’s original neighbourhoods dating back to the 1920s, the residential developments here feature some mature homes that are in need of repair. Amid the single-family homes are various older walk-ups and mid- to high-rise apartment blocks dating back decades. However, recent infill projects have spurred some more modern upscale homes.

Centre Street and Edmonton Trail are the main north-south roads, while 16 Avenue NW/Trans-Canada Highway will get you east-west – including to Deerfoot Trail and to the airport. Tuxedo Park is also on a major bus corridor with several routes criss-crossing the neighbourhood. These also provide quick access to either the downtown or to SAIT’s C-Train stations.
In the Area
One of Calgary’s most iconic restaurants, Peter’s Drive-In, is located right across 16 Avenue NW alongside several other businesses on that strip. For golf fans, the public Fox Hollow golf course and the semi-private Elks Lodge and Golf Club are right next door. Downtown and the world famous Calgary Zoo aren’t far to the south either, while SAIT and the Alberta College of Art and Design are just west.

The majority of residents in Tuxedo Park are renters, many of whom are young adults. According to the city census from 2014, 43 percent of residents are between the ages of 25 and 44. There are some families who call Tuxedo Park home, but most residents are single or couples who enjoy living close to the city centre.

Whether it’s the strip malls and businesses along 16 Avenue NW or Centre Street, or the calming tree-lined residential streets further in, residents enjoy having everything they need within a few steps from their front doors.
