Hampton Village

Saskatoon

Introduction

Hampton Village is a new neighbourhood in northwestern Saskatoon that offers a mix of detached homes, condos, and lowrise apartments. The northern, western, and eastern areas of Hampton Village border undeveloped land, and the communities of West View and Dundonald border it in the south. Hampton Village is primarily comprised of residential and commercial land in this quiet corner of Saskatoon.

Lifestyle

The homes in Hampton Village are newer and more expensive than homes in surrounding areas, which gives the neighbourhood an upper-class feeling. A large majority of residents are younger, so parks are always filled with people jogging and enjoying good weather when it comes. As a newer community, some parts of Hampton Village have not yet been fully developed.

Dollars & Sense

Hampton Village is rather expensive for the area of town it is in, but because the homes are all new and there are amenities nearby, the value is good. There are a wide variety of housing options available, so an equally wide range of prices can be found. The shops in the area are of average price.

The Good, the Bad & the Rest

The neighbourhood’s location is somewhat far away from the action of main commercial areas, and the noise from the airport means that Hampton Village isn’t exactly quiet. However, Hampton Village’s own small commercial centre and several large and serene parks more than compensate for the lack of lively urban culture.

Planes, Trains & Automobiles

Saskatoon’s John G. Diefenbaker Airport is just north of Hampton Village, so travelling across Canada and abroad is made easier. Busses don't run in the area yet, and because it is located quite a distance away from the city centre, most residents travel by their own vehicle. The neighbourhood is small, so you can walk to the commercial area from any corner, and the parks are also pleasant for walking.

In the Area

While Hampton Village offers no schools within its boundaries, there are options for elementary schools located less than one kilometre away, and options for high schools are located just a little further. The neighbourhood has a small commercial area with a pizza place, a Shoppers Drug Mart, and several other businesses. Unfortunately, the area is somewhat inconveniently located in regards to main shopping areas, like Broadway and the city centre.

Meet the Neighbours

The neighbourhood consists primarily of English speakers, but according to the City of Saskatoon, Hampton Village is more ethnically diverse than the city average. The average age range here is 25 to 35 years old, and the area has been appealed to a lot of new families with young children.

The Vibe

This is a new neighbourhood with a lot of potential. Residents are generally younger, and this makes the future look very bright for Hampton Village. Currently, the land feels a little barren with undeveloped yards and unfinished homes, but the beautiful public space and fountain at Hampton Village Square more than make up for this.
