Brentwood has an ideal location between Shaganappi Trail on the west and Crowchild Trail on the south, where residents have easy access to shopping and services. Capri Avenue, Brisebois Drive, and Nose Hill Park form the northern edge of this community. Brentwood offers plenty of green space and quiet residential areas on the east by Charleswood Drive, which separates it from the Charleswood neighbourhood.
With conveniently located shopping, schools, and parks, Brentwood offers residents easy access to core services. Nose Hill Park is a great place to go for a run, and there are also two golf courses nearby. Students will appreciate the proximity to the University of Calgary and SAIT, not to mention the Northland Village Mall, which is located on the western edge of the community.
The neighbourhood is an older, settled community with above average incomes. Though it doesn't exclusively feature Calgarians who are in the upper income levels, Brentwood residents enjoy an upper-to-middle-class lifestyle in Brentwood. Whether hitting the shops, eating out, or taking a hike through nature, Brentwood can offer something for any tax bracket.
It’s nice to be close to core amenities, but that also brings more traffic and congestion. The Crowchild Trail is one of the busiest freeways in the city and that can bring noise and traffic. The numerous recreational offerings in or near the community make it a popular spot for all Calgarians. For most, being busy is a small drawback for being so close to so many things.
The neighbourhood lies next to main thoroughfares like Shaganappi Trail, John Laurie Boulevard, and Crowchild Trail, which make it easy for commuters to get around the city. For public transit, several bus routes run through the neighbourhood, plus the Brentwood C-Train station is on the Red Line to bring you to SAIT, downtown, or to Stampede Park.
Brentwood has the luxury of being surrounded by excellent parks, restaurants, and retailers. It has both the Northland Village Mall and Brentwood Mall within its borders. Nose Hill Park to the north is one of the largest natural environment parks in Canada, with numerous hiking and off-leash areas. It is also walking distance to the University of Calgary and a short C-Train ride to SAIT.
Brentwood is a mature neighbourhood, both in its history and its demographics. According to the 2014 Calgary Civic Census, more than 80 per cent of residents are over 20 years old. With the proximity to the University of Calgary and SAIT, there is an above average amount of young people living with their parents.
Most of the homes in Brentwood were built in the 1960s, but there are new, higher density developments bringing in a younger demographic. The appeal of being close to shopping, restaurants, and major transit stations is a big reason why Brentwood is such a sought after locale for adults, young and old.
